Take a walk on the wild side at BRICKLIVE Grand Safari (Cambridge), an exhibition running from 10 to 27 August, featuring 15 extraordinary creatures handcrafted entirely from tiny bricks.
Time to don your khakis, grab your binoculars and jump into your jeep for a safari adventure as Grand Arcade has been invaded by a herd of giant animals!
A dream for any adventure-loving souls that have fantasised about spotting the Big 5 on a wildlife-studded savannah, this safari takes you on a global quest through four habitats: Wildlands, Snow and Ice, Ocean and Jungle.
Follow the BRICKLIVE Grand Safari Trail Map around the Grand Arcade to encounter awe-inspiring brick-built statues of endangered animals from across the world and then pop into the Museum of Zoology to see the real thing (or an animal close to it!).
Find out fascinating facts by reading the information cards accompanying each exotic visitor. Come face-to-face with a fearsome Bengal tiger, a proud African lion, a mighty orangutan and a playful emperor penguin. Watch out for the giant panda munching a bamboo shoot, tiptoe quietly to catch a glimpse of the elusive snow leopard, witness the graceful dolphin mid-leap and look to Grand Arcade’s sky-lit roof to marvel at the vibrant macaws perched in a tree.
As you roam around the natural world, watch out for interactive photo opportunities. Transform yourself into an intrepid safari ranger by posing in the Selfie Zone or take the wheel of the 4x4 in the interactive BRICKLIVE Jeep created from a staggering 71,454 bricks.
Dr Roz Wade, from the University of Cambridge Museum of Zoology, said: “We are delighted to join the Grand Arcade on this amazing safari adventure. It’s so important that we increase our understanding of these wonderful animals and of the conservation issues that surround the natural world.”
