Where in the UK is it most fun to be a child? Experts at Outdoor Toys have delved into the data and compiled a list of their top 10 UK cities for a kids’ day out.
Cardiff, Wales is chosen as the UK’s most fun city for kids, with a fun factor score of 7.49/10. The Welsh capital provides loads of options for a day out, including plenty of cinemas and a wide range of nature sites and parks (12.27 per 100,000 people). For thrill-seekers, Barry Island Park, located just 9.8 miles from Cardiff, features the UK’s biggest thrill ride, a giant 32-seater space machine.
Brighton ranks second, with a fun factor score of 6.90/10. This coastal city is great for kids, with plenty of attractions (21.49 per 100,000 people) including Brighton Pier, where you can find arcades, fairground attractions and even a crazy golf course. Brighton also boasts the third-highest number of child-friendly restaurants, ensuring plenty of dining options for your family.
Newcastle Upon Tyne takes third spot, scoring 6.80/10 on the fun factor scale. This lively city offers an array of kid-friendly attractions: these include tree-top adventure golf, the Wetland Centre and Ouseburn Farm. Newcastle also offers a wide variety of child-friendly restaurants as well as numerous parks and nature spots scattered around the city.
Interestingly, London was rated the UK’s least fun city for kids, thanks to its limited cinemas, play gyms and child-friendly activities.
